Environmental Policy Statement 2024
Belvoir Packaging Ltd are specialists in flexible film manufacture and conversion. We take our environmental responsibilities seriously and see environmental improvements as fundamental to delivering against our companies’ strategic aims.
It is wholly consistent with our approach to quality and our commitment to our customers.
It is the policy of Belvoir Packaging Ltd, its Directors and staff to put quality & the environment at the heart of everything we do.
We recognise that our operations can result in the pollution of air, water and land.
It is our aim to comply with environmental legislation and other statutory requirements, manage our environmental risks, continue to reduce the environmental impacts of our business and operate in an environmentally responsible manner.
This policy describes how we will achieve this.
Responsibility & Resources
This environmental policy applies to all our operations within the boundaries of our Louth site including management, manufacturing, office services and procurement.
Simon Mather, Technical Director is responsible for ensuring that this policy is implemented. However, all employees have a responsibility in their area to ensure that the aims and objectives of the policy are met.
We will ensure that resources are available to enable us to achieve our objectives and targets, in particular:
· Comply with the requirements of all environmental legislation that applies to our business.
· Take all necessary measures to prevent pollution.
· Maintain the continuous improvement of our environmental performance and publish progress.
· Reduce our impact on Climate Change and contribute to the Government target of achieving net zero by 2050.
Monitoring
Progress against these objectives will be monitored through regular management meetings and this Policy will be reviewed annually. We have established a carbon baseline (for 2022) and progress will be monitored against this baseline. We have commissioned an independently verified carbon footprint focussing on Scope 2 emissions (electricity consumption under our control) and some transmission Scope 3.
There are no Scope 1 emissions. Belvoir Packaging Ltd emissions in 2022 were 109 tonnes C02e.
We have already implemented a number of measures which have improved our environmental performance, including:
Product initiatives:
· 100% of raw material waste is recycled and reused.
· Products made are 100% recyclable.
· Products made with 100% recycled material whenever possible (unless customers request overwise).
· Recycled cores used with majority of products.
Operational and Asset improvements
· Currently implementing a lighting replacement programme (LED).
· Machinery data logging has been carried out to assist in operational efficiency.
· Power Factor Correction has been investigated and found to be not beneficial.
· Transition to electric vehicles has commenced.
· Night storage heaters removed and replaced with more economical alternative.
· Introduction of a 4-day week shift pattern.
· Factory air compressor use halved through system redesign.
Culture & Behavioural Change
· Emails are only printed by exception; printer cartridges and batteries are recycled.
· Lights are routinely switch off when no one in a room.
· All cardboard waste is recycled.
· Paper tape currently being trialled rather than Sellotape.
Future Actions & Commitments
In the next 3 years we will;
· Continue to improve data collection and accuracy to inform investment decisions.
· Complete the upgrade of lighting to LED.
· Install Solar PV.
· Seek independent accreditation to recognise our achievements.
This policy will be reviewed and updated annually.
